Sergeant/Commander/Assistant Commander – Upon merger, was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.
Adjutant to the Major of the 4th Division (West Louisville), Patrol Division, 2003-2004 – Maintained division budget (approximately $700,000 annually), ordering of equipment, monitoring of all crime statistics, attended community meetings, building and maintenance of all equipment, supervisor all civilian staff (6 people) and Division Community Relations Officers (2), District Resource Officer (1) and all housing project officers (2).
Assistant Commander of the Community Relations Unit, Chief’s Office, 2004-2005 – Supervised all officers teaching DARE (8) and all School Resource Officers (12) in the city of Louisville. Coordinated all neighborhood block watches and captains (approximately 45) and the civilian in charge of those block watches, maintained all special unit equipment including the DARE cars, LMPD Static Helicopter and LMPD Show Corvette. Supervised all Citizens Police Academy’s including the Latino Citizen’s Police Academy and the International Citizen’s Police Academy while also supervising the 574-LMPD Tip Line. During this time, I was also the backup public information officer, taking part in media relations and interviews as requested. In total, I supervised 25 police officers and 4 civilian support staff.
Commander of the Recruitment & Selection Unit, LMPD Training Academy, 2005-2009 – Supervised four police background/recruitment investigators and one civilian personnel specialist, conducted interviews, physical and written testing including psychological examinations for all applicants applying for the Louisville Metro Police Department (approximately 1500-3500 a year) as well as handled all recruiting/marketing aspects of the department, as a KLEC Police Instructor and Facilitator taught police courses to LMPD Officers and recruits, as a KLEC Firearms Instructor taught police shooting skills, tactical shotgun and AR-15 certification course.
KLEC Compliance Commander, LMPD Training Academy, 2009-2010 – Maintained all curriculum for the LMPD Training Academy, conducted compliance inspections of all certified instructors teaching for the LMPD Training Academy, created curriculum/courses and taught classes at the LMPD Training Academy as well as the DOCJT Office located at the University of Louisville Shelby Campus, supervised all civilian staff at the LMPD Training Academy (4) and took part in all KLEC meetings as the LMPD representative for those meetings.
Assistant Commander, LMPD Traffic Unit, 2010-2012 – Supervised Traffic Unit Reconstructionist (8) and civilian support staff (2) as well as all traffic guards/school crossing guards (124), maintained unit budget ($500,000), the state Highway Safety grant in the amount of $100,000, the Click-It or Ticket grant in the amount of $20,000 as well as part of the State Truck Inspector Grant in the amount of $100,000. In addition, I was tasked with tracking all fatal motor vehicle collisions in the Louisville Metro area and determine ways in which to reduce fatal traffic accidents. Part of my responsibilities included the coordination of traffic plans for all Kentucky Derby events including the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby, all events including basketball games and concerts at the KFC Yum! Center and all University of Louisville football games at Papa John’s Stadium.
Commander, LMPD Bomb Squad, 2003-2012 – Commanded all departmental FBI certified Bomb Technicians (11), Bomb Training Technicians (2) and Bomb Medics (2), supervised the maintenance of over two million dollars in equipment, responded to all calls for assistance related to bombs, potential explosives (approximately 80 a year) as well as all SWAT Team (Special Weapons and Tactics Team) call-outs. Trained as a Bomb Technician, Tactical Explosives Breacher, SWAT Operator, Confined Space Specialist, Haz-Mat Technician and Haz-Mat Specialist. Top secret FBI clearance, FBI certified instructor and facilitator.
Team Leader, Joint Emergency Services Unit, 2004-2008 – Commanded the #2 entry team, supervised officers (4), communication specialist (1) and meters/monitor specialist (1).
Assistant Commander, LMPD Peer Support Team, 2003-2004 – Supervised officers and support staff (10) during critical incidents involving members of the department, conducted debriefings for officers, supported officers families and coworkers after critical incidents, coordinated/developed relationships between departmental therapist, Employee Assistance Program Supervisor, LMPD Internal Affairs and the LMPD Public Integrity Unit.

While assigned to Chief’s Office/Property Room, inventoried evidence and property, supported Chief of Police and top command staff as an adjutant.
Patrol Officer, Adam District/David District/Charlie District, Patrol Division, 1991-1997 / 2000-2003 – Patrol and monitor criminal activity, take part in community patrols, respond to emergency calls for service, make arrests, issue citations, take both investigative and collision reports, investigate crimes and testify in court. Was a bike officer, member of the Honor Guard, District Resource Officer, Field Training Officer, KLEC Certified Police Instructor, KLEC Certified Police Facilitator and KLEC Certified Police Firearms Instructor and member of the Peer Support Team.
